Found in Dorset by P. S. Patrick when an employee of Maxwell & Beale. He later became an author of one of the standard textbooks on heathers.

and will need some shaping after the bloom to keep it looking nice

It appreciates protection from intense afternoon sun and drying winter winds

Its outstanding feature is the texture and color of the bark

The smaller grayish/blue foliage is pretty and interesting through the growing season
