Tanabe Taichi Type:stretched canvasPortrait of a thirty two year old Japanese man named Tanabe Taichi, a samurai and officer (performing the function of first secretary) on the 1864 Ikeda mission to France. He is pictured wearing traditional dress of kimono and is carrying a daish, or pair of swords (katana and wakizashi). Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
