The Politicians Featuring McKinley Jackson (Vinyl LP) Rock N Roll & 50sThis funk Detroit classic album was originally released in 1972 on the Hot Wax label, the most successful of the two sister labels (Invictus or Holland Dozier Holland) and is now reissued on 180gm heavyweight vinyl. Played by the likes of Grandmaster Flash and sampled by DJ Shadow and The Go! Team. The Politicians were an alias for the HDH session crew, although McKinley Jackson was real.

The album is filled out with live tracks from the band's singles-the best of which is a blistering performance of Double Dare - and an unreleased live version of Mask's Of Lillies and Remains

' and was issued by Chris Blackwell's Island label but a year later

This highly original set does not deserve to be so obscure
