Marquis d'Angerville Clos des Ducs 2021 DryA slightly more restrained nose grudgingly offers up its aromas of red currant, floral, spice and vaguely garrigue like wisps. There is outstanding intensity to the slightly bigger and more powerful yet still gorgeously textured flavors that also exhibit a borderline pungent minerality that seems to build on the compact, serious and youthfully austere finish that displays stunningly good length. As is virtually always the case with Clos des Ducs,

loaded with peppery spice and came across as slightly open-knit (93 - 95)

and the rest Viognier and saw a slightly longer élevage

The bouquet has sandalwood

plus hints of chocolate box

making precise and intensely mineral wines lashed with bright

crunchy berry flavors

grilled herbs and dusty violets

The palate is wonderfully elegant with a medium to full body and very fine-grained tannins supporting perfumed cherries and black berries layers

which borders the vineyard to the north

It needs a little time to mellow and develop greater complexity

bluish red colour is deeper than that of my Pinot noirs
